Is South Africa’s Fuel Too Expensive?

Are South Africans paying too much for fuel, in comparison with the rest of the world? Let’s take a look…

South Africa’s petrol prices are, understandably, more than major oil-producing countries such as the U.S.A. and Saudi Arabia. But, in comparison with most European countries, South Africa’s petrol is much cheaper. For example, as of July 2015, a gallon of petrol in South Africa cost 4.15 U.S. dollars, whereas a gallon in Germany was $6.21 and $7.71 in Norway.
